What’s this all about?
I’ve lived in and around St Albans for the past forty years but only recently discovered some of the wonderful countryside which surrounds this fabulous city. St Albans has a richness of footpaths around the city and it is easy to limit yourself to perennial favourites such as the Alban Way, the park at Verulamium or the heath at the aptly named Colney Heath. However, pick up a copy of the local OS Map and a whole new vista opens up.
I decided that as I was working out a series of circular walks, I may as well make them available to anyone who may be interested. Hence this blog. The walks included are not intended to be a quick stroll with Rover, they are proper walks, tending to be between eight and twelve miles, which are meant to be enjoyable but also give a sense of achievement. I hope you enjoy walking around St Albans as much as I do.
